Winfield, Kan. – The McPherson College women’s tennis team lost, 9-0, to Southwestern College Monday afternoon in Winfield, Kan. With the loss, MC drops to 1-7 on the season and 1-4 in KCAC action.
The Moundbuilders opened the match with a 3-0 advantage after sweeping the three doubles compeititions. The closest of the three was at the No. 1 position, where seniors Kelsey Buffo and Ashley Andrews fell, 8-2, to Molly Kearns and Morgan Hubele.
McPherson’s troubles continued into the singles competitions where they were swept, 6-0. Junior Haley Cook battled hard at the No. 5 spot, but fell, 7-5, 2-6, 6-0 to Katie McNett. Cook was the lone Bulldog to take a set from the Moundbuilders.
The Bulldogs return to the court Thursday, April 22, as they host Kansas Wesleyan University. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. at the McPherson High School Tennis Center.
