McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College women’s tennis team lost, 9-0, to Bethany College Saturday morning at the McPherson High School Tennis Center. The loss puts McPherson at 1-8 overall and 1-5 in conference action, while the Swedes improve to 7-5 and 4-2 in KCAC play.
The Bulldogs struggles started at the opening serve, as McPherson dropped all six singles matches to go down 0-6 prior to the doubles competitions.
The Swedes went on to sweep the doubles matches. McPherson No. 2 pairing of Shaylin King and Katie Doffing played the closest match of the day. The duo battled to an 8-4 loss against Bethany’s Valentine Puchkova and Kierstyn Hansen.
The Bulldogs return to action on Monday, April 26, as they host Kansas Wesleyan University. The match with the Coyotes was postponed on April 22 due to weather conditions. First serve is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. at the McPherson City Courts with matches to follow at the Doris Coppock Tennis Courts on the campus of McPherson College.
