Hastings, Neb. – The McPherson volleyball team never got its offensive attack started as the Hastings College Broncos topped the Bulldogs, 3-0, Friday evening in the Hastings College Invitational.
Freshman hitter Aspen Frey (Newton, Kan.) tallied a team-best .385 hit percentage and six kills in the effort. Junior setter Brelynn Schloo (Salina, Kan.) led the team with 17 assists and seven digs.
Hastings quickly took control of the match winning the first two sets by the count of 25-13 and 25-10.
Despite the momentum in the Broncos favor, McPherson fought back in set three, but failed to overcome the HC attack. The Bulldogs hit a match-best .238 with seven kills in the third frame.
McPherson continues play in the Hastings College invitation against Briar Cliff University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
