Volleyball Host Bethel in Final Home Match

The McPherson College volleyball team will host Bethel College on Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the Bulldogs final home regular season match for the 2011 season. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CT) and will air live via the KCAC Broadcast Network.
 
McPherson opened the week with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-12) sweep of Bethany College Monday night. The victory snapped a three match losing streak and improves the Bulldogs to 9-15 overall, including a 6-8 mark in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. MC currently rests seventh in the standings behind Ottawa University (12-14, 8-7) who sits at No. 6. If McPherson remains at the No. 7 position, the Bulldogs will host the play-in round of the KCAC tournament.
 
Against Bethany, MC hit a near season-high .400 with 44 kills on 100 total attempts and only four errors. Senior Kory Hiebert (Goessel, Kan.) paced the Bulldogs with a match-high 12 kills, while junior Hannah Hoffman (Bendena, Kan.) set a career-high with 23 assists and 13 digs.
 
Bethel has won five of their last six, including sweeps of Southwestern College, University of Saint Mary and Sterling College, en route to a 13-11 overall record and 10-4 KCAC mark. The Threshers are currently tied for second in the conference standings with Tabor College and Friends University with four matches remaining.
 
After Bethel, McPherson travels to Ottawa University on Friday.
 
Scouting Bethel
  • The Threshers are 13-11 on the year and 10-4 in the KCAC heading into Wednesday match at McPherson
  • BC currently is tied for second in the conference with Friends and Tabor.
  • Bethel closes the regular season with arguably the toughest portion of it schedule with a home match against Kansas Wesleyan before traveling to Friends and Tabor.
  • Bethel took advantage of 23 Warrior attacking errors in their 3-0 (25-22, 24-20, 25-22) sweep of Sterling Monday night.
  • Sophomore outside hitter Jordan Gray leads BC with 214 kills on the season and an average of 2.6 kills per set. Gray posted a season-best 19 kill performance in Bethel’s five set victory against USM on Sept. 20.
  • Defensively, senior defensive specialist Addison Wolf has a team-best 385 digs (4.6 digs per set), while junior middle hitter Lindsey Chandler owns a team high 82 total blocks.
