Four Second Half Goals Lifts MC past Southwestern, 4-1

Box Score Winfield, Kan. – The McPherson College men’s soccer team exploded with four second half goals to propel themselves past Southwestern College, 4-1, Wednesday evening at Richard L. Jantz Stadium. The match was the final road contest for the Bulldogs this season.
 
With the win, McPherson improves to 11-5-0 overall and 6-2-0 in conference play. The victory also extends MC’s win streak to three matches. Southwestern fell to 4-13-0 overall, 1-7-0 in the KCAC with the defeat.
 
In the first half, Southwestern jumped out to the early advantage with an Austin Sacket goal in the eighth minute. The Moundbuilders held their 1-0 advantage the remainder of the half.
 
However, the second half belonged completely to the Bulldogs, who tied the score in the 69th minute on Juan Garcia's (Reno, Nev.) team-leading 11th goal of the season off an assists by Tarek Khalidi (Augusta, Kan.). McPherson’s game-winner came a little more than four minutes later from Brooks Walsh (Valencia, Calif.), before Khalidi put the game to rest with scores in the 83rd and 89th minutes.
 
McPherson returns to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 29 when they host rival Kansas Wesleyan University in their regular season finale. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. (CST) at McPherson Stadium.
