Volleyball Sweeps Bethany to Advance to KCAC Quarterfinals

The McPherson College volleyball team collected its third consecutive sweep of rival Bethany College, 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-18), Saturday night in the play-in round of the KCAC Tournament. With the win, the Bulldogs advance to the quarterfinal round to face Tabor College.
 
McPherson improves to 12-17 overall, while the Swedes end their season with a 2-25 overall mark.
 
Junior outside hitter Natalie Boss (Waterville, Kan.) led McPherson with 12 kills on 29 attempts for a .310 hitting percentage, while senior middle hitter Kory Hiebert (Goessel, Kan.) joined Boss in double figures with 10 kills on 16 attempts and a match-high .625 attack percentage. Hiebert also added a team leading seven blocks in the win. Junior setter Hannah Hoffman (Bendena, Kan.) dished out a team-leading 23 assists, while senior libero Brooke Wedel (Moundridge, Kan.) added 29 digs.
 
McPherson won the first two sets in dominating fashion, 25-10 and 25-15. However, in the third set the Bulldogs trailed at the start of the frame, but put the clamps down and seized the momentum to earn a 25-18 victory.
 
As a team, McPherson recorded 10 team blocks, while hitting .269.
 
The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 8 when they travel to No. 2 seed Tabor College. First serve is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. (CT).
