McPherson, Kan. – Headlined by senior outside hitter
Kory Hiebert's (Goessel, Kan.) first team selection, the McPherson College volleyball team had four individuals recognized as All-KCAC, the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference office announced earlier today.
In addition to Hiebert, seniors
Amy Neufeld (Hillsboro, Kan.) and
Brooke Wedel (Moundridge, Kan.) earned second team honors, while junior
Natalie Boss (Waterville, Kan.) received honorable mention accolades.
Hiebert, who is making her second straight appearance on the All-KCAC first team, led the Bulldogs with a .332 hitting percentage and 2.91 kills per set average, recording double-digit kills in 18 matches, including a season-high 15 against Bethel College on Oct. 26 and College of the Ozarks (Mo.) on Sept. 10. Defensively, she led the KCAC and ranks amongst the top 10 nationally with 143 total blocks and a 1.40 blocks per game average. She set a career-high with 11 total blocks in the Bulldog’s 3-0 sweep of Bethany College on Sept. 27.
Wedel ended the regular season as the Bulldog’s defensive leader with a 5.25 digs per set average that also ranked second in the KCAC. Through MC’s play-in round match against Bethany College, Wedel has posted double-figure digs in all but three matches, including a season-high 36 on Oct. 26 against Kansas Wesleyan. Additionally, she owns a .922 reception percentage.
Neufeld is second behind only Hiebert with 238 kills (2.33 per set) in 28 matches this season. She owns eight double-digit kill matches this season, including a career-best 17 against Bethel College on Oct. 26. For the year, Neufeld is hitting .202 and has recorded 66 total blocks.
Boss, who is making her third appearance on the All-KCAC team, is third on the team with 213 kills and a 2.20 kill per set average. Her .160 hitting percentage ranks fourth amongst Bulldogs that have played in at least 80 sets this season.
McPherson returns to the court on Tuesday, Nov. 8 when they travel to Hillsboro, Kan. for a quarterfinal round match up with Tabor College. The Bulldogs enter the match seeking their first victory against the Blue Jays this season. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CT).
