Salina, Kan. – The McPherson College men’s soccer team saw its 2011 season come to a close on Wednesday night with a 3-0 loss to Kansas Wesleyan in the semifinal round of the KCAC Championships at Salina Stadium.
In the first half, the two sides battled to nearly a scoreless period with neither side giving an inch. However, in the 41
st minute the Bulldogs were called for a foul inside the penalty area that allowed Alex Chavez to give Kansas Wesleyan a 1-0 on a penalty kick.
The Coyotes put the contest out of reach midway through the second half when Chavez added another in the 58
th minute and a score by Briant Reyes in the 66
th.
Overall, the Bulldogs were outshot 6-26, including 2-8 in shots on goal.
Freshman forward
Andrew Rosales (Duncanville, Texas) led the team with two shots, including one on goal, while senior goalkeeper
Blake Jett (Fort Worth, Texas) made five saves in 90 minutes.
The Bulldogs end the 2011 season with a 11-7-1 overall, as we as a 6-3-0 mark in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
