Aaron Frazier (McPherson, Kan.) poured in a season-high 25 points, including 14 points in the second half, as the No. 7 McPherson College men’s basketball team knocked off Sterling College 64-55 Thursday evening at the McPherson College Sport Center.
 
With the victory, McPherson improves to 13-1 overall and 3-0 in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play, while the Warriors fall to 3-8 overall and 1-2 in league action.
 
Frazier finished the contest 9-of-17 from the floor and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. He also chipped in six rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot in the effort. Joining Frazier in double figures was Samson Shivers (Houston, Texas) with 15 points, which extends his double-digit scoring streak to nine games.
 
The Bulldogs struggled throughout the entire first half, shooting only 25.8 percent (8-of-31) from the field, as the Warriors entered the locker room with a 26-19 advantage at the break.
 
The McPherson came out firing in the second period to take a 31-28 lead on a Jordan Crawford (McPherson, Kan.) jumper with 15:01 remaining. It was all Bulldogs from that point further as McPherson outscored the Warriors, 45-29, in the half. MC finished the frame shooting 16-for-18 from the foul line, which played a key role in the McPherson victory.
 
Overall, the Bulldogs shot 35.0 percent (21-of-6) from the field, including 4-for-13 from beyond the arc. The bright spot for the MC offense came at the free throw line where the Bulldogs converted 78.3 percent (18-of-23) of attempts. Additionally, McPherson held a 46-36 advantage in rebounding, including 12 from Jordan Crawford.
 
Trenton Stutzman led SC with 21 points and was 5-for-10 from beyond the arc.
 
The Bulldogs return to the court on Saturday, Dec. 10 when they host the University of Saint Mary. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CT).
