Hillsboro, Kan. – The McPherson College baseball team dropped both games Thursday in a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Tabor College. The Bulldogs dropped the opener 7-1 before falling in game two, 14-1.
The losses leaves McPherson with a 0-16 overall record and a 0-8 mark in KCAC play, while the Blue Jays improve to 22-5 overall and 3-1 in league action.
Sophomore first baseman Steven Paramore (Mansfield, Texas) led the Bulldogs with two hits, including his first career home run in a MC uniform.
Tabor jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the third before the Bulldogs answered on a Paramore solo home run to cut the deficit to 4-1. However, the Blue Jays answered with a pair in the bottom of the frame and added another in the bottom of the fifth to earn the 7-1 win.
Junior left-hander Caleb Hartman (Moundridge, Kan.) was tabbed with the loss. Hartman pitched three innings, allowing four runs, while scattering five hits. Freshman Michael Adams (Wamego, Kan.) and Dalton Slavens (Glencoe, Okla.) made appearances in relief.
In game two, Tabor scored 14 runs in the first three innings, including a six run first frame. The Bulldogs scored their lone run of the contest to the top of the fifth.
McPherson returns to action on Saturday, March 26 when they play Tabor College in the home half of the four-game conference series. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from the Grant Sports Complex.
