The losses give McPherson an overall record of 0-28 and 0-20 in conference play, while the Braves improve to 14-24 on the season and 10-10 in KCAC action.

Freshman infielder Collin Rusher (Cleveland, Okla.) and freshman catcher Brandon Hicks (Abilene, Texas) each hit their first career home runs, while freshman Chace Evans (White Oak, Texas) hit his team-best third home run of the season. All three home runs were hit in game two.

Ottawa took advantage of a pair of Bulldog errors to build a 5-1 lead en route to the victory. McPherson’s lone run came in the bottom of the second when freshman first baseman Ian Richards (Dallas, Texas) singled through the hole at shortstop to score freshman shortstop Daxton Deal (Abilene, Texas). Deal reached earlier on a double down the left field line.

In game two, the Bulldogs found themselves in a 5-0 hole after two innings, but held the Braves scoreless in the third. MC’s bats came alive in the bottom of the frame, as the Buldogs tied the game with a five-run inning. The half was highlighted by home runs by Evans, Rusher and Hicks.

However, the Braves bounced back with a sixth run fourth as they cruised to the 13-6 victory.

McPherson returns to action on Tuesday, April 19 when they play cross-town rival Central Christian College.
