Salina, Kan. – The McPherson College baseball team dropped both ends of a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday at Kansas Wesleyan University. The Bulldogs fell in game one 14-3 before dropping game two, 13-6.
McPherson slips to 0-20 on the season and 0-12 in conference play, while the Coyotes improve to 18-10 overall and 8-2 in the KCAC.
In the first game, Kansas Wesleyan scored five runs in the first two innings before McPherson lit up the scoreboard with a three-run third frame. Freshman outfielder Brad Stanley (Coffeyville, Kan.) opened the inning with a double down the left field line before stealing third. Stanley scored on a freshman shortstop Daxton Deal (Abilene, Texas) single before freshman third baseman Chace Evans (White Oak, Texas) hit his first career home run to cut the deficit to 5-3.
However, KWU answered with a run in the fourth before rallying for eight runs in the fifth to earn the 14-3 victory in game one.

Dalton Slavens (Glencoe, Okla.) was tabbed with the loss.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring in game two with a three-run first inning, but the Coyotes tied the score with two in the first and one in the second. McPherson pushed back into the lead, 4-3, following an RBI double by freshman Chris Cesario (Mansfield, Texas). However, the Coyotes answered with four in the bottom of the frame and six in the fifth to take a 13-5 lead into the late innings. MC added another in the sixth, but failed to overcome the deficit.
Junior left-handed pitch Caleb Hartman (Moundridge, Kan.) was nicked with the loss. Freshman Dorian Shelton (Kansas City, Mo.) and Evans paced the Bulldog offense with three hits apiece.
McPherson returns to action tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. when the Bulldogs close out the season series with Kansas Wesleyan.
