McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College women’s tennis team fell by a score of 7-2 to Friends University on Thursday afternoon at the McPherson High School Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 1-8 overall and 0-5 in conference play, while the Falcons improve to 2-8 overall and 1-4 in the KCAC.
Friends swept doubles action to earn the early 3-0 lead.
The Falcons then cruised to victories at No. 2, 3 and 5 singles, before Elly Johnson edged McPherson’s Wrylie Finkle (Wichita, Kan.), 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), in a second set tiebreak.
The Bulldogs two points came at No. 4 and 6 singles, as Ashley Allmon (McPherson, Kan.) knocked off Katy Lepping (6-1, 6-0) and Sarah Ehrlich (Augusta, Kan.) won her second straight with a win over Kassie Welch, 6-1, 6-1.
McPherson’s next match will be Saturday, April 23 when they host Bethel College. The match will begin at 9 a.m.
