McPherson, Kan. –
The McPherson College softball team wrapped up the regular season with a pair of losses against Tabor College on Tuesday evening in a key Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference series. The Bulldogs fell in game one 7-1 before dropping game two 14-8.

The losses drop McPherson to 20-24 overall and 8-8 in conference play, while the Blue Jays improve to 26-22 overall and 6-10 in the KCAC.

Tabor opened a three-run advantage in the top of the first, which proved to be too much for the Bulldogs to overcome.

McPherson scored its lone run of the game on a two-out single by senior Ashley Luthye (Northglenn, Colo.) that scored junior Sadie Green (Hutchinson, Kan.) from second. However, Tabor matched MC’s run two innings later before adding another three runs in the seventh en route to the victory.

Sophomore pitcher Kelsey Dutton (Limon, Colo.) suffered the loss to fall to 12-8 overall this season. Five different Bulldogs combined for MC’s five hits.

In game two, Tabor plated seven runs in the top of the seventh to slug their way to the 14-8 victory. The Blue Jays took advantage of four McPherson errors in the game.

MC scored two runs in the bottom of the second, four in the fourth and two in the bottom of the sixth, but failed to get closer than four runs.

Junior pitcher Andrea Falk (Cheyenne, Wyo.) took the loss. Freshman Morgan Zenefski (Cheyenne, Wyo.) led the MC offense with a 3-for-3 effort, including two runs scored.

McPherson returns to action next week when they open KCAC tournament action.
