The McPherson College volleyball team fell, 3-1 (25-20, 28-30, 17-25, 19-25), to Bethel College Thursday evening at Thresher Gymnasium.
 
The loss drops the Bulldogs to 5-12 overall and 2-5 in conference, while the Threshers improve to 7-8 overall and 4-2 in the KCAC.
 
Senior Kory Hiebert (Goessel, Kan.) led McPherson with 15 kills, while senior Amy Neufeld (Hillsboro, Kan.) chipped in 10. Senior Brelynn Schloo (Salina, Kan.) dished out a team-high 16 assists and recorded 11 digs, while senior libero Brooke Wedel (Moundridge, Kan.) led the squad with 14 digs.
 
McPherson, similarly to their last four matches, roared out to a win in the opening set, 25-20. The Bulldogs tallied a match-high .355 hitting percentage with 13 kills on 31 attempts and two errors, while holding the Threshers to a .105 attack percentage.
 
However, the Bulldogs failed to sustain the momentum of the opening set with a heartbreaking loss in the second frame, 30-28.  Bethel continued to take set three 25-17, before claiming the fourth frame and the match, 25-19.
 
Jordan Gray led three Threshers in double-digits with 15 kills, while Kristen Lohaus added 11. Alyssa Schrag tallied 29 assists.
 
As a team, McPherson ended the evening with a .134 attacking percentage, 11.0 total blocks and 37 team assists.
 
McPherson returns to the court on Saturday when they host Ottawa University. First serve against the Braves is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the McPherson Sport Center.
