McPherson Volleyball Beats Lady Spires 3-0

Leavenworth, Kan. – The Lady Bulldog volleyball team moved to 8-22, 5-8 in conference after their three-game sweep of the University of Saint Mary.  McPherson now sits sixth in the KCAC with five games left in the regular season.
 
In the opening game of the match, McPherson took the Lady Spires by surprise and jumped out to a quick 12-4 lead.  Saint Mary was never able to gain any momentum, struggling to put two points together, ultimately dropping game one 16-25.
 
After losing the first point in game number two, the Lady Bulldogs went on a 10-to-2 run and never looked back.  USM was able to string together a few points here and there but was never really in the game.  McPherson grabbed a two game lead after winning 25-16.
 
The Lady Spires were determined not to be swept and came out firing in game three, getting up 10-6 on McPherson.  The Lady ‘Dogs bounced back and took their first lead of the game at 14-13 and never trailed for the remainder of the contest, taking down USM 25-22.
 
MC’s Aubrey Hoover (Pratt, Kan.) had 15 kills on 19 attempts and also recorded seven total blocks, four solo and three assisted.  Tori Phelan (Rangely, Colo.) tallied nine kills and one block in the victory.
 
Rachel Phillips (Maize, Kan.) and Hannah Hoffman (Bendena, Kan.) were assist machines on Thursday each reaching double-digits; Phillips had 16 while Hoffman logged 13.
 
McPherson will have to wait six days before their next match which is scheduled for October 24th against the Lady Moundbuilders of Southwestern College in the McPherson Sport Center at 7:00 p.m. (CT)
