Hastings, Neb. – The McPherson College women’s tennis team traveled to Hastings, Nebraska to take on the Hastings College Broncos and the Doane College Tigers. Still short-handed, the Lady Bulldogs managed to split the day losing a tough battle to Hastings College 9-0, but ending the day on a positive note defeating Doane College 5-4.
The Lady Bulldogs fought tough in their first match against Hastings College, but the Broncos proved too much for the short-handed Bulldogs. While the match was very competitive the Broncos swept the day.
Undeterred from their match earlier in the day, the Lady Bulldogs looked to rebound against the Tigers. They did just that coming out of the gate quickly and took both doubles matches for a 2-1 lead after doubles. Forfeiting two more singles matches gave the Tigers the lead at 3-2, but the Bulldogs would respond by taking three of the four singles matches available to them. Senior Wrylie Finkle lead the way with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at number one singles followed by sophomore Kara Wright’s win at number three singles 6-2, 7-5. Finally, for the win, senior Jessica Vincent came from behind in her match to seal the victory for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs improve to 2-4 on the season and will host Seward County Community College on Saturday March 24 beginning at 9:00am.
