McPherson, Kan. - The McPherson College Lady Bulldogs hosted their crosstown rival Central Christian College today at McPherson High School. McPherson came out prepared and focused as they picked up an 8-1 victory over the Tigers.
In doubles, the Lady Bulldogs number two and number three doubles teams had little trouble defeating their opponents 8-1, and 8-0 respectively. The Lady Bulldog’s number one duo of Wrylie Finkle (Wichita, Kan.) and Jessica Vincent (Hutchinson, Kan.) tried to battle back to give McPherson the sweep of the doubles, but Central built too large of a lead and took the point with a 9-7 win.
The Lady Bulldogs went into singles play leading 2-1. In singles, McPherson played confident and controlled as the Lady Bulldogs swept through the singles matches dropping only one set at number one singles. Senior Finkle needed to go the distance to win her point as Kristen Reith took a commanding lead of the second set to force the third set tie-breaker. Finkle remained composed and controlled as she gained the quick advantage and won the tie-breaker 10-4.
McPherson improves to 3-5 and will have one day to prepare for Seminole State College. The match is scheduled to be played on Saturday, March 31 at 10:00am in Riverside Park in Wichita.
