Winfield, Kan. – The McPherson College women’s tennis team traveled to Winfield, Kan., to take on the Southwestern College Moundbuilders. The Lady Bulldogs played tough and with a lot of heart, searching for their first win in conference, but were denied by the Builders.
In doubles, McPherson managed to grab the top doubles position with an impressive win by seniors Wrylie Finkle (Wichita, Kan.) and Jessica Vincent (Hutchinson, Kan.). Unfortunately, the Bulldogs other two doubles teams both fell by an 8-4 score. Going into singles play, the Bulldogs really fought tough with Ashley Allmon grabbing the first singles point for McPherson to even the score 2-2 with her win at number two singles. The Builders however would claim the next three matches to clinch the match and leave McPherson winless in conference. Sophomore Kara Wright (Wichita, Kan.) won her singles match 7-6, 6-3.
The Bulldogs host their last match of the season on Saturday, April 21 at McPherson High School as the MC hosts Bethany College. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m. (CT)
