McPherson, Kan. – After getting down two sets to none against Tabor College, McPherson volleyball fought back and forced a fifth game but in the end it was the Lady Jays who came out with the 3-2 win.  Mac is now 14-14 for the year and 6-6 against conference competition.
 
TC came out and took the first two sets of the match, barely holding off MC, winning 25-22 in both.  The Lady 'Dogs took it upon themselves to extend the contest doing so with back-to-back victories, winning 25-12 and 25-16.  In the final set, seven unforced errors by McPherson gave Tabor the advantage which they used to sneak by with a 15-9 win.
 
Three Mac players made it into double-digits in kills with Tori Phelan (Rangely, Colo.) leading the way with her 15 on 42 attempts.  Cortlyne Huppe (Florence, Colo.) was next on the list with 11 and was shortly followed by Taylor Johnson (Valley Center, Kan.) who totaled 10; Huppe also had seven assisted blocks with one solo block as well.
 
Rachel Phillips (Maize, Kan.) logged 44 assists, 14 digs, and four kills from the setting position.
 
Leading the team in digs, libero Emily Warner (Wichita, Kan.) posted a career-high 36; the freshman also tallied a pair of kills for MC.
 
A bout with KCAC leading Kansas Wesleyan awaits the Bulldogs next as the Coyotes travel to the McPherson Sport Center on October 23rd for a 7:00 p.m. (CT) match.
