Box Score

McPherson, Kan. – A few days later and the result is the same, the Lady Bulldogs defeat Sterling College.  Making the rainout game up four days later, the 2-0 victory for MC guarantees them the eighth seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

Game 1 – vs. Sterling College – W 2-0

It was a fast-paced competition with multiple three up, three downs; McPherson scored the game’s lone runs in the third inning and held on for the rest of the way.

In a not so common way, Ariel McGee got aboard a team-high two times; the first was getting hit by a pitch as the opening batter for McPherson and the other was a walk in the third.  Amanda (Grace) Baxter also got on twice as she led the squad in hits with two, both singles; McKenna Deckard and Ashley Love each tallied a hit as well.  Deckard and Jenna Kaiser logged the team’s two RBI; Kaiser’s came on a sacrifice fly to center that scored McGee.

Haydn Tabola, Kelly Hannah and LaChelle Bell each had a hit for Sterling while three other got on base with walks.

Recording the complete game for MC was Alison Love who threw to 25 batters and put out 19, four of which were strikeouts.

The Lady Bulldogs will now play top-seeded Friends University in round one of the KCAC Championship Tournament; the winner of the tourney is warranted a place in the NAIA National Championships.  Mac will face the Falcons at 11:00 a.m. (CT) in Hutchinson, Kansas at the Fun Valley Sport Complex on May 3rd.
