Columbus, Ga. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced Wednesday that 286 softball student-athletes have been named 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. McPherson’s Amanda (Grace) Baxter (Pueblo, Colo.) made the list for Lady Bulldog softball.
In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
Baxter completed her career at McPherson this past weekend at graduation following her three seasons with Mac softball; she leaves MC with 205 total at bats and a career batting average of .263. As catcher for the Lady ‘Dogs, Baxter tallied 250 put outs and had a fielding percentage of .846.
“Grace was a great player for us,” said head coach Mike McCormick. “She came to work every day and gave her best effort. She will be greatly missed”
