McPherson, Kan. – For the second-straight game, the Lady Bulldog soccer team surrendered four goals. In their most recent contest, coming against Baker University, MC was unable to put one in the back of the net, losing 4-0 to the Lady Wildcats.
"We gave this game away tonight," said Coach Talley. "We allowed Baker to beat us out of the air three times resulting in goals along with a mishandled loose ball in the box that cost us the game. We worked on our build up in the final third Monday and Tuesday night at practice and I felt like we executed it fairly well so to lose the way we did tonight is very frustrating."
Playing under the lights, the Lady 'Dogs had to battle the hostility that is Kansas wind in the first period meaning that BU was playing with the wind; Baker took advantage by putting up three of their goals in the game's first 45. The Wildcats put the final goal of the match on the board with 22 minutes to play.
Nine shots were attempted by Mac in the 90-minute contest, four were on target; four different 'Dogs posted the shots on goal while Gabriela Navarro (Wichita, Kan.) led the team in total shots with three.
Baker tallied 25 shots and was able to place 12 on frame.
MC Keeper Caitlyn Blagrave (Rio Rancho, N.M.) recorded the loss as well as eight saves and four goals allowed.
Next in store for the Lady Bulldogs is Olathe, Kansas and MidAmerican Nazarene University. McPherson travels to MNU on September 21st for a 1:00 p.m. start time against the Pioneers.
"I'm hoping this Saturday we'll finally be able to put all of the pieces of the puzzle together against a very tough MidAmerica Nazarene," stated Talley.
