Sterling, Kan. – The McPherson volleyball team started their second-round of KCAC play on Friday night. It did not go as planned as the Lady Bulldogs lost in straight-sets to Sterling College 25-20, 25-22, and 25-16.
The opening set went back-and-forth from the beginning until SC broke away late, going on to win 25-20. In the second set, Mac held a slim lead midway through but could not hold off a surge by the Warriors and went down 2-0 after the 25-22 loss. The final set was all Sterling as the Lady Warriors got up early and then coasted to a 25-16 win for the 3-0 sweep.
McPherson tallied just 28 kills in the match, their third lowest this season. Taryn Lee led the team with seven on 19 attempts and was followed by Cortlyne Huppe who had six. Taylor Johnson recorded an assist on each one of Mac's points, tabbing 28 assists. Emily Warner led the team in digs with 15, her fourth lowest total of the year.
Mac gets a few days off before finishing up their seven game road trip as they travel to Southwestern College on October 15th for a 7:00 p.m. (CT) contest with the Moundbuilders.
