McPherson, Kan. – Bulldog volleyball trailed big in each of their three sets to Tabor College on Friday night but always had a late surge to pull close down the stretch. Unfortunately, Mac came up short every time, losing 3-0 to the Blue Jays.
In the opening set, MC trailed by as many as 12 to Tabor before they began their comeback; a 9-1 run by the 'Dogs pulled the score to 23-21 but TC scored the final two points to take a 1-0 lead. The second set went much like the first with Mac getting down by seven before a surge brought the score to 21-18; again, however, Tabor won the next four points to claim the set. McPherson came out firing in the third set and was the first to 10 points. A 5-0 run put the Lady Jays in front for good and they finished the sweep with a 25-16 victory.
MC had three players at seven kills in Lindsay Moss, Cortlyne Huppe, and Taryn Lee; Huppe led the team in points as she had two solo and one assisted block. Sophomore setter Taylor Johnson recorded 20 assists and 10 digs; fellow sophomore Emily Warner led the team in digs with 16.
The Bulldogs are back home for their next match as they host the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes on October 22nd at 7:00 p.m. (CT)
