Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lady Bulldog Soccer Loses 3-1 to Sterling

Sterling, Kan. – McPherson didn't take too many shots on Saturday but when they did, they were accurate as they placed five of their six shots on target against Sterling College.  Unfortunately, they only saw one go past the keeper and had three scored on them by the Warriors, bringing about a 3-1 loss.

The first goal of the game came on the second shot of the day as SC went up 1-0 less than 10 minutes into the contest.  About 20 minutes later McPherson answered as Cydney Lewis kicked one past the goalie with just over 10 minutes left in the opening half.  The Bulldogs had the momentum kicked out of them right before halftime as Sterling scored their second goal of the match with under a minute to play in the first period.

In the second half, the Warriors came out firing early but the 'Dogs held off the bombardment to keep their deficit at one goal.  The dam finally broke for Mac with 15 minutes to play as SC slotted their third and final goal of the night, giving them the 3-1 win.

As stated earlier, McPherson placed five of their six shots on frame with forward Lewis leading the way in both categories with her three tries and two shots on target.

Tori Verdieck recorded six saves in her 90 minutes in goal for MC.

The Lady 'Dogs have two matches left in the regular season.  The team will need to win at least one to have a chance of advancing to postseason play.  Their first opportunity comes on Saturday, November 1 against the team right above them in the standings in Southwestern College; the match is scheduled for12:30 p.m. in McPherson.
