McPherson. Kan. – It was a 6-0 day for Bulldog volleyball as they took out the two Central Christian Colleges of the US. Mac defeated CCC of the Bible 25-16, 25-15 and 25-20 then took down CCC of Kansas 25-12, 25-18, and 25-17.
In the bout with the Saints, MC breezed through the first two sets but were faced with more resistance in the final set; the 'Dogs, using multiple subs, held off CCCB to win in three-straight sets.
Cortlyne Huppe tabbed 12 kills on 19 swings and was followed by Taryn Lee who had 11 on 17 attempts; Huppe also tallied a team-high four blocks with two being solo stuffs. Taylor Johnson recorded 31 assists to lead the team. Emily Warner and Lindsay Moss combined for 25 digs with Warner leading the team with 13.
In their second match of 2014 against the Tigers, McPherson had a much easier time as they never let CCC reach 20 points in any of the three sets. MC allowed just four kills to the Lady Tigers in the opening set and 25 for the match.
Huppe and Lee once again led the team in kills but it was a much more even effort for Mac as five different players recorded over five kills. Phoebe Barton led the team in blocks with four total, three being assisted blocks. Johnson posted 27 assists and Warner amassed 22 digs for the Lady Bulldogs.
McPherson's next match will be at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. The October 8th contest is set for a 7:00 p.m. start.
