McPherson, Kan. – It's the Bulldogs vs. the Coyotes for the 2014 KCAC Men's Soccer Tournament Championship. Either McPherson College or Kansas Wesleyan University has won the tournament on the men's side since 2005, aside from one year when Friends snuck one in.
The series is tied at 3-3-1 in postseason play since 2005. The 'Dogs were 3-0-1 between 2005 and 2008 with the tie ending in a KWU win on Penalty Kicks in '06; Mac outscored Kansas Wesleyan 8-4 over that span. The Coyotes have won the last three tournament matches by a combined 10-2; the last time the two met in the postseason was 2012.
The 2014 Bulldogs head into the final riding an eight-game winning streak and have shutout their opponents for the past five. Mac's last loss came back on September 21st. Since then, they have won nine and tied twice. This year, McPherson has outscored the KCAC 32-7.
Kansas Wesleyan, much like the 'Dogs, went undefeated in the conference regular season. They are on an eight-game winning streak and their last loss was on September 20th to then-No. 5 Oklahoma Wesleyan. In KCAC play, KWU has outscored their opponents 23-5.
Saturday is forecasted to be a cold and snowy day, only time will tell if the snow will affect the outcome of the Championship. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m. (CT) at the Hummer Sports Complex in Topeka, Kansas.
The winner of Saturday's match will represent the conference in the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Opening Round held at campus sites around the country on November 22nd.
