McPherson, Kan. – Playing on a Monday was not favorable for Bulldog volleyball as they dropped a 3-0 match to Bethel College. The loss moves McPherson to 10-17 on the year and 3-11 against KCAC opponents with two conference matches to play.
The Lady Threshers doubled-up MC early in the opening set, leading by as many as seven. The 'Dogs wouldn't go away as they had a late push that brought them within one at 19-20; unfortunately, Bethel scored five of the next six to take a 1-0 lead. In the second set, it was McPherson that got up early as they jumped ahead 8-3; Bethel used a series of mini-runs to climb back in and eventually take the lead, then match at 25-17. The final set went the way of the KCAC 4th ranked Threshers as they controlled things from the get-go; Bethel finished the sweep by winning 25-11.
Taryn Lee led the team in kills with six but Cortlyne Huppe was the top point-getter with 8.5 as she had five kills and five blocks, two solo. No Bulldog hit double-digits in assists as the team totaled just 21 for the match. Taylor Johnson recorded a team-high 12 digs to go along with her eight assists and three kills.
McPherson heads up to Ottawa University for a Wednesday night match on November 5th; start time is set for 7:00 p.m. (CT)
