Box Score 2 McPherson, Kan. – There were not many runs to be had on Saturday as just nine total runs crossed the plate in MC's pair of games with Sterling College; the Warriors took the first 4-2 but Mac rebounded with a 2-1 win in the second outing. The Bulldogs are now 12-17 on the year and 5-7 in the KCAC, sitting in seventh with six games, three series, to play.
Game 1 – at Sterling College – L 4-2
The opening game of the series started with a bang for McPherson as an Ariel McGee triple scored leadoff batter Mariah Wedel to give the Lady 'Dogs a quick 1-0 lead. SC tied it up in the third and then got in front in the fourth; two more runs in the fifth gave the Warriors a cushy 3-run advantage heading into the final two innings. Mac was able to put one across in the seventh but could not get close enough to force extra frames, giving Sterling the 4-2 win.
Wedel (McPherson, Kan.), McGee (Denver, Colo.), and McKenna Deckard (Hutchinson, Kan.) each tabulated a pair of hits in the loss and each scored once; Wedel also got aboard on a base on balls.
Kaila Atkinson (Magnolia, Texas) got the game-one nod for Mac at the mound and threw for five innings before being relieved; she surrendered four earned runs off of 11 hits. Jenna Kaiser (Billings, Mont.) finished up the contest, putting away all three Warriors she faced.
Game 2 – at Sterling College – W 2-1
The second contest of the day was a fast one as just three total runs were scored on 10 hits and one walk. MC hit the scoreboard first as they brought two across the plate in the second inning. The Lady Warriors scored their lone run in the bottom of the seventh but were stopped after just one, preserving McPherson's 2-1 triumph.
Cassandra Moreno (Wichita, Kan.) recorded two knocks of the ball to lead the team; three others came up with the remaining hits.
Kaiser threw the complete seven-inning game, allowing one earned run on five hits and one walk; it is the sophomore's fourth win of the year.
The Dirt 'Dogs are at home this Wednesday for a doubleheader with KCAC leading Ottawa University starting at 5:00 p.m. (CT)
