McPherson, Kan. – In yet another tight match for McPherson volleyball, the Lady Bulldogs cannot come away with a victory, losing 3-1 to Bethany College. The defeat moves Mac to 6-16 on the year and 1-10 in the KCAC.
After going back-and-forth for the first several points in the opening set, the Bulldogs got down midway through and could not recover, losing 25-18. The match quickly got tied up as MC roared to a 25-11 set two victory. A neck-and-neck battle ended in a 25-22 win for BC as they inched out Mac to take set three and a 2-1 lead. The fourth set was close most of the way until a couple mini-runs by the home team Swedes put them too far out of reach and giving them the 25-20 win.
Topping the 'Dogs in kills was senior Taryn Lee who produced 13 on 26 swing with just two errors for a solid .423 attacking percentage. Outside hitter Leia Seiler led Mac in kill percentage with her 11 kills on 21 attempts and a mere one error. Jocelyn Cochran had a steady performance for McPherson with her eight kills and 11 digs.
Inching out the setting title was Rhianna Smith as she had 19 assists to Maci Schlehuber's 18.
Emily Warner tabbed 25 digs along with two service aces and one kill.
McPherson will get back at it on Wednesday night when they host Kansas Wesleyan University. The junior varsity will get going at 5:30 p.m. (CT) with varsity set to start at 7:00.
