Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

McPherson Pushes Past Threshers

McPherson, Kan. – It was a game about taking advantage of opportunities for Bulldog soccer on Saturday.  MC was able to capitalize on their chances and held Bethel College scoreless, taking the conference match 3-0; the Bulldogs completed 354 passes in possession for 71% to Bethel's 142 passes (29%).  McPherson is now 6-7 this season and 3-2 in the KCAC.

"It was a wonderful performance for us today in possession," said Coach Quint.  "We were very dynamic and created a lot of chances in the run of play. It was so pleasing to see training finally transition to the game."

It didn't take the Bulldogs long to get on the scoreboard as Jesus Pescador slotted in a Greg Roller pass just 10 minutes in.  MC continued to push forward, taking multiple shots over the next several possessions, most went off target but Christopher Kelly's try in the 34th minute ended up in the back of the net, pushing the score to 2-0.  As the halftime horn sounded, Mac held a 2-0 lead and outshot Bethel 15-4.

In the second half, BC began to attack more but the McPherson defense held strong, maintaining the two-goal lead.  In the 64th minute, Kevin Ndongo struck one that went off the crossbar but Nick Torres was right there waiting for the rebounding, scoring the game's final goal and putting Mac up 3-0.

The Bulldogs took 27 shots in the 90-minute match with eight going on target; the team also had 14 corner kicks, seven in each half.  Both Ndongo and Torres recorded six attempts while Pescador had five; Torres, Pescador, and Kelly each placed a team-high two shots on frame.

The MC goalies only had to make three saves on the day.  Aaron Parrott, who played the first half, logged two while Arthur Lamparter, who played the final 45, had one.

Next up for Mac is No. 4 Oklahoma Wesleyan University on October 21st in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; start time is set for 7:30 p.m. (CT)
