Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tough Loss for Senior Day

McPherson, Kan. – For the second-straight game, the MC women's soccer team has faced a top NAIA team.  Saturday brought Ottawa University to McPherson and the Lady Braves took down Mac 5-0.  The Lady 'Dogs are now 8-6 overall and 4-3 in the KCAC.

"It was a tough week for us," said Coach Quint.  "I'd say we learned a few things and now it's time to keep working to better ourselves and move on.  Our focus is to Bethany now."

The Braves maintained most of the possession in the opening period, it helped that MC was continually having to battle the wind for the first 45.  Ottawa scored their first goal just over 15 minutes in; they got two more later in the half and led 3-0 heading into the break.

Ottawa scored less than two minutes after halftime, moving the score to 4-0.  McPherson did a better job of controlling the ball in the second but were unable to get any chances at goal.  Their lone shot came with just over five minutes to play in the match.  By that time, OU had scored their fifth of the day, ending the game at 5-0, Braves.

Cydney Lewis was responsible for the sole shot attempt for MC, it went wide.

It wasn't an easy day for goal keeper Sheryl Evans.  The junior tallied three saves along with the five goals surrendered.

A trip up Old Highway 81 to Lindsborg, Kansas and Bethany College is next on the docket for MC; they will take the short trek on Wednesday the 28th for a 5:00 p.m. (CT) kickoff.
