Game Recap: Volleyball |

Friends Firepower too much for Bulldogs

Wichita, Kan. – The McPherson College volleyball team had a tough time slowing down the attacking Friends University Falcons on Wednesday as they lost 3-0 in Wichita.  Mac is now 6-23 overall and 1-16 in the KCAC with three matches to go.

In the game's opening set, the Falcons jumped out to a quick lead and then went two-for-one the rest of the way, taking the set 25-13.  The second set went a bit better for McPherson as they kept Friends in arms reach most of the way; a late push by FU gave them the 25-14 win.  In what turned out to be the final set, Mac took a 5-1 advantage right off the bat and was able to stay out in front until a seven point run by the Falcons put Friends on top, leading to a 25-17 third set victory.

Lexi Kite was the top killer for McPherson with her eight on 30 attempts; she also was second on the squad in digs with nine.  Senior Taryn Lee tallied seven kills on 19 swings.

Rhianna Smith led Mac in assists with 12 and was quickly followed by Maci Schlehuber who had 11.

Junior libero Emily Warner tabbed 13 digs to top the Bulldog list.  Jocelyn Cochran tied Kite for second place with nine.

McPherson's final two home games of the year are up next.  The two-match home-stand will start on October 30th when the University of Saint Mary comes to town for a 7:00 p.m. (CT) match
