McPherson, Kan. – Following 110 minutes of play, McPherson College and the University of Saint Mary women's soccer teams ended the match in a 0-0 tie. It was the first draw of the season for the MC women who are now 9-7-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the KCAC.
The wind was a huge factor in Tuesday night's game as it seemed whichever team was with the wind held control of the pace of play. The opening half was led by the Spires who placed four shots on frame in the first 45. Mac had their chances but none went on target. The half ended at 0-0.
In the second, the 'Dogs played at a much faster pace, creating multiple opportunities but none were fruitful. Some of McPherson's best chances came in the closing minutes as they continued to push forward. Unfortunately, none went into the back netting so the two clubs went into overtime.
In OT, the Bulldogs again controlled the majority of possession. McPherson attempted seven shots in the 20 minutes of overtime but could not find the game winner. As USM was also goalless after the two OT periods, the game ended with a 0-0 tie.
Breelyn Petty tallied a team-high nine shots on the night with just one going on frame. Amy Stockton and Cydney Lewis each took three of Mac's 25 shots; both had one on goal.
Sheryl Evans recorded seven saves in her 110 minutes between the goal posts.
As the No. 5 seed in the upcoming KCAC Postseason Tournament, McPherson will travel to No. 4 Bethany College on Friday, November 6 for a bout with the Swedes kicking off at 7:00 p.m. (CT)
