Game Recap: Softball |

Mac Falls Twice to Midland University

McPherson, Kan. – The 2015 home opener didn't go as planned for the MC softball team as they dropped a doubleheader to Midland University of Nebraska 11-0, 15-5.  The games were originally slated for Sunday the 22nd but were moved earlier due to the weather forcast.

Game 1 – 11-0 Midland

Aside from one bad inning, the second where the team gave up 10 runs, McPherson played very well in the opening game.  The Lady 'Dogs blanked Midland in the final three innings but were unable to score themselves which led to the 11-0 five-inning game.

Emily Davis and Amanda Darrow were responsible for the team's two hits.  Mac got on via base on balls four times with Samantha Harrity accounting for two.

Kaylee Lozier started at the mound but couldn't get out of the second inning; Mallory Fowler finished out the contest, pitching for three and two-thirds.

Game 2 – 15-5 Midland

After surrendering three runs in the opening frame of the second contest, MC answered with three of their own.  The Warriors scored another three in the second and Mac added one in the third.  The 'Dogs had a rough fourth inning as they allowed eight runs; they did get one back in the bottom of the inning though.  MU put up one more in the fifth to close out the game 15-5.

Simone Donaldson had a great game for McPherson; she logged three hits including a double, knocked in three, and also scored twice.  Davis went 2-of-3 with a double and scored twice as well.  Cassandra Moreno logged a pair of hits while Maty Gray made it aboard twice on a hit and a walk.

Amanda Connell pitched for three innings before Fowler came in relief to start the fourth; Connell re-entered later in the inning and finished out the game.

The Lady 'Dogs will take on cross-town rival Central Christian College this coming Tuesday, February 24 with the doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m. (CT) at Wall Park.
