Leavenworth, Kan. – The 2015 campaign for Bulldogs softball came to a close on Wednesday following a pair of losses to the University of Saint Mary. McPherson ends the season at 4-35 on the year and 1-17 in the KCAC.
Game 1 – 10-0 University of Saint Mary
MC only put a pair of runners on in the first game of the series. The Spires tabbed 14 base runners and scored 10 of them; USM took the game 10-0.
Mariah Wedel logged Mac's lone hit while Emily Davis made it aboard once via base on balls.
Amanda Connell pitched the complete game for McPherson; the freshman allowed eight earned runs on 11 hits and a walk in her four innings.
Game 2 – 5-0 University of Saint Mary
Saint Mary did all of the scoring in the second game as well; the Spires tallied two in the opening inning and then three more in the sixth. MC struggled to string hits together, losing 5-0 in the final game of the DH.
The Bulldogs netted three hits in the loss; McKenna Deckard, Sydney Lipton, and Davis tabbed the knocks of the ball.
Connell again threw for the complete game; she gave up five runs on eight hits and three walks.
The year is over for McPherson College softball. Coach Spencer and her staff will look to add depth and replace five seniors prior to the 2016 season.
