McPherson, Kan. – A quick start for No. 18 University of Science and Arts gave them the advantage in Saturday's contest with No. 24 McPherson College. The Drovers scored a pair of goals in the first five minutes and then added another in the second half to take the KCACNetwork Game of the Week 3-0.
"We were awful today and need to regroup," said Coach Quint.
It was the start that no coach ever wants, trailing 2-0 after a couple poor decisions by MC led to goals for the Drovers; the game's first goal came on a Penalty Kick at the 2:58 mark. McPherson was playing catch up the rest of the way. The 'Dogs had their opportunities but failed to connect; they took seven shots in the opening 45 with three going on target.
In the second half, the Bulldogs were forced to go into the wind but were still able to make chances for themselves but could not get one to find the back of the net. USAO put the game's final goal in at the 68th minute. On the game, the Drovers took 11 corner kicks compared to just one by MC.
The 'Dogs took 12 total shots and saw four go on frame. Nick Torres, Kevin Ndongo, and Brayam De La Cruz each shot the ball three times with De La Cruz leading the team in shots between the pipes with two.
Arthur Lamparter started the game in goal for MC and was forced into a couple difficult situations and allowed a pair of goals; he had just one save in his 45 minutes of play. Aaron Parrott entered the match after the halftime break and conceded one goal while saving eight.
McPherson will look to get it together prior to their next match which is set for September 9th as they host Saint Gregory's University with game time TBD.
