McPherson, Kan. – On a blustery day in McPherson, the MC women's soccer team had their first match of 2015 as they took on a very disciplined University of Science and Arts squad. After the 90 minutes were up, Mac saw themselves on the wrong side of a 2-0 score line.
"Our ladies battled hard today and I was pleased with us defensively," said Coach Quint. "Unfortunately we created some unnecessary adversity for ourselves and need to be more disciplined."
The Lady 'Dogs were on the defensive for nearly the entire first half as they faced the wind for the opening 45. McPherson did a nice job of holding off multiple Drover attacks right from the get-go. USAO recorded eight total shots in the period and placed four on frame with one squeaking by in the 42nd minute to put them ahead 1-0 at the break.
In the second, MC controlled the pace a bit more and were finally able to get their first shot on target just two minutes into the period; all three of Mac's total shots were saved by the Drover goalie. USAO posted their second goal in the 60th minute and went on to win 2-0.
Rhea Vale, Allie Hicks and Cydney Lewis were responsible for the three Bulldog shots.
Junior transfer Sheryl Evans played the complete 90 in the box for McPherson and logged 14 saves.
The Lady Bulldogs won't be taking Labor Day off as they travel to Omaha, Nebraska to face NCCAA Grace University on the 7th; start time is slated for 5:00 p.m. (CT)
