Game Recap: Softball |

Mac Splits with Lady ‘Jays on Senior Day

McPherson, Kan. – It was Senior Day for the McPherson College softball team as they took on Tabor College on Saturday.  MC, who will graduate six seniors in May, split the doubleheader with the Bluejays.

Game 1 – W 11-1 – 5 innings

Mac jumped out early in the opening game of the DH as they took advantage of some TC pitching struggles; following the first inning, the Bulldogs led 8-0.  The 'Dogs added another two in the third to push their advantage to 10-0.

Tabor scored their lone run in the fourth but it was matched by McPherson.  The MC defense held the Lady 'Jays scoreless in the fifth and final inning, winning the game 11-1.

The Bulldogs tallied nine hits, four walks, and were hit by four Tabor pitches.  Sydney Lang and Kayla Bourgeois each had two hits to lead the Mac batters.

Lang pitched the complete five innings; the freshman allowed just one unearned run on four hits and zero walks.

Game 2 – L 9-5

The bats struggled early for McPherson as they had four-straight scoreless innings.  The Bluejays scored an unearned run in the second and again in the third to go on top 2-0 after the fourth.

TC plated another four in the fifth; the Bulldogs put their first on the board in the bottom of the inning.  Both teams scored three runs in the sixth; Mac's stopped the game from being ended due to run-rule.

McPherson was able to score another in their half of the seventh but came up short 9-5.

Katie Holmes went 3-of-4 from the plate and tallied two RBI.  Emily Davis was 2-of-3 and got hit by a pitch as well.  Also recording a pair of hits was Alex Yeoman and Azaria Romero.

Katie Usdansky pitched the first three innings; she allowed a pair of unearned runs on two hits and a walk.  Lang closed the game out for the 'Dogs.

McPherson will again be at home on Tuesday the 26th as they are scheduled to face Friends University at Wall Park starting at 5:00 p.m. (CT)
