McPherson, Kan. – For the third-straight season, the McPherson College women's tennis team have won the KCAC Regular Season title; their undefeated season cumulated with a 5-0 defeat over Bethany College on Saturday.
"I was very pleased with how we played today," said Coach Stuckey. "We were able to send out seniors out on a good note by winning the regular season. We are eager to get to work on Monday preparing for the conference tournament."
The Swedes were playing with just five players, thus giving McPherson wins at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles before the match even got started.
The two remaining doubles points went the way of the Bulldogs with the No. 1 combo of Zoe Bouwmeester and Lea Striegel winning 8-1 and the No. 3 duo of Nikki Vorhees and Deiah Curtis dropping their opponents 8-0.
Leading 4-0, McPherson just needed one more point to clinch the match. The victory came from senior Nikki Thornburg at the No. 4 slot, 6-1, 6-0.
