McPHERSON, Kan. (macbulldogs.com) --- The McPherson College women's soccer team closed out its 2017 regular season with a 2-0 loss to Kansas Wesleyan University Tuesday evening at McPherson Stadium.
The Coyotes (8-7-2, 7-3-1 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference) out-shot the Bulldogs (7-9, 4-7 KCAC), 17-2, overall and held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Kansas Wesleyan tallied its first goal in the 35th minute when Alyssa Skobis scored off an assist from Valerie Ochoa, then added an insurance goal in the 72nd minute on a goal by Antonia Burrell.
Adriana Reyes (West Valley City, Utah, Barton County CC) and
Emma Van Donselaar (Overland Park, Kan., Shawnee Mission West HS) had McPherson's only shots, with Reyes being credited with a shot on goal.
Ochoa had a game-high five shots, including three on goal, while five other Coyotes had two shots.Â
Bulldog netminderÂ
Christie Silber (Simi Valley, Calif., Simi Valley HS / Simi Valley Eclipse SC)Â was credited with seven saves, while Jane Potter - her KWU counterpart - was credited with one.
Despite the loss, the Bulldogs secured a spot in the 2017 KCACÂ Women's Soccer Championships as the No. 7 seed and will face No. 2 seed and 13th-ranked Ottawa University at 6 p.m. Saturday at Peoples Bank Field.
