McPHERSON, Kan. (macbulldogs.com) --- The McPherson College women's team took another step towards a fourth straight Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) regular-season title with a 9-0 win over Friends University Saturday at McPherson High School.
The Bulldogs (3-2, 3-0 KCAC), who conceded only four games in nine matches, grabbed a 3-0 lead after doubles behind an 8-1 win at No. 1 by
Brittany Zipf (Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, Emmaus College) and
Besa Bwalya (Hoisington, Kan., Hoisington HS) over Amanda Zavala and Cassidy Darrah.
Zoë Bouwmeester (Zutphen, Netherlands, Isendoorn College) and
Lea Striegel (Emmendingen, Germany, Albert-Schweitzer Gymnasium) won 8-0 at No. 2, while Madison Hoffman and Deiah Curtis added an 8-2 win at No. 3 over Victoria Nissley and Courtney Temen.
In singles, Zipf (No. 1), Bwalya (No. 2), Bouwmeester (No. 4), Hoffman (No. 5) and Curtis (No. 6) also posted 6-0, 6-0 victories, while Striegel won 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot.
McPherson returns to the courts Monday afternoon for a match against Bethel College (4-4, 3-0 KCAC) - the only other remaining unbeaten team in league play. That match will be followed up by trips to Tabor College (5-4, 2-1 KCAC) on Thursday and Bethany College (0-4, 0-3 KCAC) on Saturday.
