Bulldog Women Still Looking for Their First KCAC Win

Drew Brunecz

On a night where the Bulldogs were without leading rebounder and second leading scorer Brittany Roberts, (So. Mansfield, Texas), they lost to Tabor 64-48, to drop to 0-3 in conference play.

The Blue Jays led this game from start to finish, as McPherson struggled, especially on offense. The first quarter was semi-close, as the Bulldogs only trailed by three points. The second quarter wasn't too bad for McPherson either. They only trailed by eight at the half.

There were not any big runs by either team in this game. Tabor just slightly outscored the Bulldogs every quarter, until at one point they led by 19 points. McPherson had plenty of fight in this game, but could just not keep up with the Blue Jays.

This was a poor shooting night for the Bulldogs, as they only shot 30% from the floor, and 11% from beyond the arc. They also only shot 56% from the free throw line, leaving nine points off the board. They were out rebounded by Tabor, with a 37-33 disadvantage.

Sonerka White (Sr. Houston, Texas), was once again the leading scorer for McPherson, as she posted a game-high 18 points for the Bulldogs. She also led in assists for McPherson, with two. Danielle Holt (Jr. Glenpool, Okla.) was the leading rebounder tonight, with seven total boards.

"I thought we struggled to score, and not having Brittany hurt us offensively and on the boards." commented Coach Nichols. "I thought we played with more energy and defensively we played better just had a hard time putting the ball in the basket."

The Bulldogs next game is Monday, November 26th at 6:00 PM, where they will try to get back to their winning ways when they travel to play Kansas Wesleyan.
