Hutchinson, Kan. – The McPherson College volleyball team wrapped up their season with a 3-0 loss to University of St. Mary in the semifinals of the KCAC Conference Tournament.
The first set was extremely close, but in the end, the Spires came out on top 25-23. In the second set, the Bulldogs couldn't get anything going and the Spires ran away with the set 25-13. The Bulldogs regrouped for the 3
rd set, and made it competitive again, but were unable to mount a comeback and the Spires closed out the match with a 25-19 win.
Coach Cahill shared his thoughts on the match saying, "Tough loss against a quality opponent. We battled but in the end couldn't pull it out. It was a great season and we have a lot to be proud of. The future for Bulldog volleyball is a bright one."
The Bulldog offense was led by
Riley Bradbury (Jr. Castle Rock, Colo.), who tallied 9 kills on 36 attempts and had just 2 errors. Right behind Bradbury was
Sydney Burton (Jr. Stillwell, Kan.), who finished with 8 kills.
On defense,
Jamie Siess (Sr. Topeka, Kan.), led the way with 26 defensive digs, and at the net it was Burton and
Elizabeth Williams (Jr. Grand Prairie, Texas), who each had two assisted blocks.
Kaitlyn Heinis (Sr. Oviedo, Fla.), led the team in assists, with 20.
The Bulldogs finish the season with an overall record of 17-12. They say goodbye to five ladies, Siess, Heinis, Williams,
Alicia Hall (Sr. Aurora, Colo.), and
Bree Wallace (Sr. Wichita, Kan.).
