Bulldogs Snap Three Game Losing Streak, Sweep York

York, Neb. – The McPherson College volleyball team snapped a three match losing streak Saturday, sweeping the York College Panthers on the road 25-22, 25-20, 25-21.

Offensively, it wasn't the prettiest of performances, as the team hit just .149 on the day with 41 kills on 154 swings and 18 errors, but it was a win nonetheless, and one the Bulldogs desperately needed as they finish up the regular season and prepare for the conference tournament in two weeks. The leading hitters for the Bulldogs were Alicia Hall (Sr. Aurora, Colo.) and Riley Bradbury (Jr. Castle Rock, Colo.), who both finished with nine kills.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Bulldogs came up with 84 defensive digs, led by Bradbury with 23. Jamie Siess (Sr. Topeka, Kan.), had 19 digs, and is now just 25 away from 2000 for her career.
Coach Cahill summed up the day saying, "Today was a great day for us. We started slow but finished strong. It's always a great feeling to get a sweep on the road."
 
With the win, the Bulldogs move to 13-11 overall, and get back to .500 in the KCAC at 5-5. They will be back in action twice next week, first on the road at Avila University at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, then they wrap up the regular season with a match at home on Saturday also at 7 p.m. against the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles. Saturday's match with the Eagles will also be Senior Night for the Bulldogs.
