Kansas City, Mo. - On Saturday, the McPherson College women's soccer team fell to the Avila University Eagles 2-0.

The Bulldogs had opportunities to score, however, could not seem to finish for goals. The amount of shots on goal were relatively even for both teams with Eagles having nine, and the Bulldogs at seven.
Keeper Christie Silber (Jr. Simi Valley, Calif.) had four saves total, and the Eagles had three saves.

Head coach Mark Olson said, "Avila came out today with a lot of intensity of pressure on the ball, and we didn't match that intensity."

In the first half, both goals were scored by the Eagles. In the 11th minute, an Eagles player crossed the ball across goal, and it drifted in scoring a point. Quickly after in the 13th minute, the Eagles responded with another goal up the middle.

In the second half, Emma Singleton (So. North Las Vegas, NV.), missed a penalty kick, barely hitting the inside of the right post, Dina Der Vartanian (Sr. Pasadena, Calif.) followed it up. Unfortunately, a foul was called amid the play.

The Bulldogs held strong defensively in the second half, however, could not react offensively.

"Despite our poor performance, we still created great opportunities. We just could not find the back of the net."

The Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season this week, heading out on the road Tuesday to play Oklahoma Wesleyan. Kickoff between the Bulldogs and Eagles is slated for 5 p.m.
