McPherson, Kan. - The McPherson Men's basketball team defeated the Bethany College Swedes 91-77 Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs offensive efficiency and improved defense in the second half carried the game. The Wednesday night win was their sixth in a row. The Bulldogs are 14-5 for the season and 9-4 in KCAC play.
The first half was not the Bulldog's finest hour. They allowed 45 points and only managed 43. This was due in no small part to their defense; the Swedes went 19/34 in the first half. The Bulldogs didn't help their cause by missing six free throws.
The second half, however, was a different story altogether. The Bulldogs committed on the defensive end and flipped the script. They only allowed 32 points in the second half, limiting the Swedes to a 35% shooting percentage and only conceding one three.
Delvon Hightower (Senior, Bakersfield, Calif.) had one of his finest games of the season, finishing with a career high 27 points and three assists. Lual Magot (Senior, Tucson, Ariz.) also had a standout game, racking up 21 points, including a trio of monster dunks, and 16 rebounds.
The Bulldogs shot 49% from the field for the game. The only area that the Bulldogs struggled in offensively was from three-point land as they only converted eight of their 29 attempts from distance.
"Tonight was another great team win," commented Bulldog head coach T.J. Eskildsen. "I thought our seniors were huge tonight, especially Delvon, who really stepped up and provided us with a spark offensively in the second half. Lual was a monster on the glass once again and Dorian was great defensively."
The Bulldogs are next in action Saturday  at Tabor College at 7 p.m.
