Bartlesville, Okla. – The McPherson College women's basketball team picked up an important road win on Wednesday, defeating Oklahoma Wesleyan 68-61. The win keeps the Bulldogs' hopes alive for a berth in the KCAC conference tournament at the end of the month.
The Bulldogs used a huge offensive explosion in the second half, coupled with a top notch defensive performance to erase a 12 point halftime deficit and out score the Eagles by 19 to pick up the victory. The win pushes the Bulldogs to 12-14 overall on the season, and 8-12 in conference play. They are currently a game back of Southwestern College for the final spot in the KCAC tournament with four games left to play.
In the opening half against the Eagles, the Bulldogs shot just 30% from the floor, and 17% from beyond the three point arc. Midway through the third quarter, and trailing by 15, something clicked. The offense, fueled by a few defensive stops, started to get into a groove. Over the final 17 minutes of play, the Bulldogs outscored the Eagles 37 to 15, and shot 54% from the field.
Two Bulldogs finished the game in double figures, led by another double double performance from
Brittany Roberts (Jr. Mansfield, Texas), her 21
st of the season. She played just over 19 minutes, fouling out midway through the fourth quarter, but still managed to drop in 21 points, and grab 10 boards. Also in double figures was
Maison Moseley (So. Woodward, Okla.), who hit a couple of big threes down the stretch and finished with 14 points.
"Thought we played some of our best basketball of the year in the 2nd half. Said Bulldog head coach
Josh Nichols. "Defensively I can't ask for much more. Brittany was aggressive and Maison hit some big shots as well. We got good minutes from a lot of different players who won't get credit stats wise. Haley, Victoria, Britney were just a few names that helped get a big time road win."

The Bulldogs have another critical challenge on Saturday when they host the Bethel College Threshers for a 5 p.m. match-up at the Sport Center. The Bulldogs won the first meeting, back in December 71-59.
