Bulldogs Rally to Defeat Friends 79-70

McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College women's basketball team got back into the win column with a 79-70 win at home over the Friends University Falcons.

The Bulldogs had to come from behind, trailing the Falcons as many as 18 points in the first half. Late in the first half, they began to cut into the Falcon lead, but they still trailed the visitors at the break 39-32.

The Bulldogs turned up their intensity and defensive pressure in the second half and just two minutes into the third quarter they had gone on an 8-0 run and took their first lead of the game. They extended their lead to 10 points with 3:46 to play in the quarter, but the Falcons wouldn't go away.

The Bulldogs had a 1 point lead heading into the 4th quarter. In the final period, the lead changed hands twice early on. The Bulldogs grabbed the lead for the final time with 1:40 left in regulation, and then held on down the stretch.

Brittany Roberts (Sr. Mansfield, Texas) led the Bulldogs in Scoring with 24 points, McKenzie Shippy had the same point total for the Falcons. Shippy did her damage from deep, making 6 of 11 three pointers, while Roberts was devastating inside going 10 of 13 in the paint.

 Next Up

 The win puts the Bulldogs at 9-6 overall, and evens up their conference record at 6-6. They will be back on the floor on Saturday for a 5:00 pm match-up at the Sport Center with the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes.
